Why should the slew drive be filled with lubricating oil in time during use? Reason analysis
Publish time:2021/04/14 News Views:736
The slew drive used in aerial work platform, automobile crane, truck cranes, industrial automation and other equipments, due to it has to withstand heavy loads and frequent slewing motions to a large extent, this causes the slewing drive more likely to cause damage due to the higher frequency of use. While the damage of the slew drive is often caused by the damage of the meshing teeth on the worm shaft and worm gear due to insufficient lubrication. Therefore, it is extremely important to fill enough lubricating oil in time.
In the process of worm gear and worm shaft transmission, when the load is large, the pressure and friction between the meshing teeth of the worm shaft and worm gear are also large, the temperature of the contact part is too high, which makes the tooth surface of the worm shaft and worm gear to be severely worn or even damaged, which causes the transmission instability and the reduction of transmission accuracy, which cannot meet the use requirements.
The previous slew drive mostly used the method of adding lubricating oil to the meshing part of the worm gear worm shaft tooth surface through the external oil nipple of the housing to reduce the heat and wear of the worm gear worm shaft tooth surface during use. However, due to the sealing of the housing is not good, the phenomenon of lubricating oil leakage is easy to occur. Therefore, the current slewing drive uses more grease instead of lubricating oil to lubricate the meshing tooth surface of the worm gear and worm shaft.
Due to the poor fluidity of the grease, it is not easy to be injected into tooth surface meshing of the worm gear and worm shaft. Therefore, when filling the grease through the slew drive housing outer grease nipple, enough grease must be added to make the grease reach the worm gear worm shaft meshing position, further to make full use of the added grease, thereby greatly improving the lubrication effect and avoiding the waste of grease. In this way, the lack of lubrication due to the lack of lubricating grease supply in time can be well avoided, which will affect the lubrication effect, thereby increasing the service life of the slew drive.
