Why do slewing bearing gears need to be ground?

Publish time:2021/08/09 News Views:707

With the continuous development of industrial machinery, there are higher and higher requirements for the transmission stability, transmission accuracy and load capacity of the motor driven pinions and the slewing bearing gear rings. Regarding the slewing bearing, no matter the external gear slewing bearing or the internal gear slewing bearing, the normal processes include gear shaping, gear hobbing and gear milling.

Slewing bearing gear grinding

According to the design standard, the general gear accuracy is 8 grade or 9 grade. Gear shaping rough machining and gear shaping finish machining can reach 7 grade gear accuracy. The gear accuracy is mainly reflected in the rotation accuracy. The specific indicators are as follows:

1. Across gear distance and common normal length

2. Common normal deviation

3. Gear runout (finished slewing bearing gear runout)

4. Gear width, gear thickness, gear profile, gear direction, etc. (generally not marked in drawing)

In order to improve the strength, hardness, wear resistance and toughness of the slewing bearing gear ring and pinions, we usually adopt surface hardening on the gear ring gears. If the gears are not quenched, the gear ring gears will have problems such as comprehensive performance degradation and easy damage. Gear quenching has a great influence on gear accuracy. After quenching, the gear ring will appear elliptical deformation, the accuracy grade will reduce.

If the gear accuracy is required to be high, after quenching, the gear accuracy usually can not meet design requirements. If want to achieve a higher gear accuracy after quenching, we need to finish machining on the gears, but the gear hardness after quenching is high, the conventional gear shaping or gear hobbing process cannot process the quenched gears. We usually use gear grinding technology, what is gear grinding? The grinding wheel is used as a tool to grind gear surface of the machined gear to improve the gear accuracy and surface roughness. It is suitable for steel gears with higher hardness after quenching.

Grinding gears can reach a very high surface roughness and the hardened gears can reach Ra0.8 surface roughness by grinding gears. Gear runout can reach 0.03-0.1mm. Gear grinding can correct the deformation of the slewing ring during the heat treatment process, ensure the finished gear accuracy and improve the meshing accuracy, achieve the purpose of precise transmission and reduce vibration and noise.

Slewing bearings and gears are grounded to improve the gear roughness and improve the gear accuracy. Grinding teeth can generally reach 5 grade or 6 grade gear accuracy, which provides a solid foundation for precision slewing bearings and pinions to achieve high precision and small backlash transmission, if you need precision slewing drives, we are very good at designing, manufacturing, assembling and debugging precision slewing drives. We look forward to your consultation.
