What material is the seal on the slewing ring?
Publish time:2021/07/16 News Views:527
Sealing is a component that prevents fluid or solid particles from leaking between adjacent joint surfaces and prevents external impurities such as dust and moisture from intruding into the interior of machinery and equipment.
Most rubber seals are made by compression molding, such as various extrusion seals, rotary shaft lip seals, reciprocating movement of lip sealing ring, composite seals, film seals, bellows seals, etc. There are also processed shapes, such as rectangular seal, piston ring seal, coaxial seal (or slip ring combination seal), etc.
There are many types of rubber seals, such as nitrile rubber seals, fluororubber rubber seals, silicone rubber seals, etc. The most commonly used seal for slewing rings is nitrile rubber seal. If it’s at high temperature, fluorine rubber can be used for sealing, if it’s at low temperature, silicone rubber seals can be used.
Nitrile rubber seal is a copolymer formed by polymerization of acrylonitrile and butadiene monomers, mainly produced by low-temperature emulsion polymerization. It has excellent oil resistance, high wear resistance, good heat resistance, and strong adhesion, so it is especially suitable for slewing rings. The normal use temperature of nitrile rubber seal is -50℃~100℃, which can meet the use in most working conditions and environments. Nitrile rubber is one of the most representative rubbers with comprehensive properties such as oil resistance, physical and mechanical properties and chemical resistance. Effective use of these properties can meet various occasions.
The high temperature resistance of fluorine rubber seal is very good, it can be said that it is the best among elastomers. 26-41 fluorine rubber can be used for a long time at 250℃. Fluorine rubber has excellent heat resistance, oxidation resistance, oil resistance, corrosion resistance and atmospheric aging resistance. It has been widely used in aerospace, aviation, automotive, petroleum and household appliances and other fields, it is an irreplaceable key material in the advanced defense industry.
Silicone rubber seals can generally be used at low temperatures of -70°C to -50°C, specially formulated ones can be used at -100°C. Silicone rubber seal has the characteristics of oxidation resistance, shock resistance, moisture resistance, low temperature resistance, ablation resistance, radiation resistance. It is one of the important materials for aerospace and cutting-edge technology. It can be used for cold-resistant rubber in the aviation industry and seals for ablation-resistant and heat-resistant aging parts.
In summary, the seal used by the slewing ring should be selected reasonably according to the specific operating conditions, operating environment and operating temperature.
