Introduction to the protection level of the spur gear slew drive

The protection grade is represented by IP X X. IP is the acronym for INGRESS PROTECTION and X X is two numbers.
The first number indicates the dustproof level of the spur gear slew drive and the level of preventing foreign objects from intruding (foreign objects including tools, foreign objects, human fingers, etc. can not touch the internal moving parts of the slewing drive to avoid personal injury or equipment damage).
The second number indicates the waterproof capability of the slewing drive. The value is larger that indicates the slewing drive has better waterproof ability.
The first number – dustproof grade introduction of the slewing drive:

5 grade waterproof grade water spray test
Test equipment:
The water jet inner diameter of the nozzle is φ6.5mm
Test conditions:
The distance between the slewing drive and the water jet is 2.5m ~ 3m, the water flow is 12.5 L/min (750 L/h), the slewing drive is rotated normally.
Test time:
Calculated according to the slewing drive housing surface area, spray water for 1 min per square meter (not including installation surface area), spray water for at least 3 min.
Grade determination: After the slewing drive has done the water spray test, wipe the slewing drive dry, remove the slewing drive housing seals and slewing bearing seals, check whether the tooth meshing part and the slewing bearing raceway are filled with water, if there is no water entering, it means that the slewing drive has reached the 5 grade waterproof level. If water enters, it means that it has not been achieved 5 grade waterproof level and needs to be improved.
The slewing drive is used outdoors all-weather, generally reaching the protection grade of IP54, which is dustproof and prevent water splashing from all directions from intruding.
