In spur gear slewing drives, the gear meshing drive needs to meet the following two basic requirements:
Accurate and stable transmission
In the process of gear transmission, the instantaneous transmission ratio should be kept constant, and reasonable tooth profiles (usually involute cylindrical gears) should be used.
Strong carrying capacity
The gears should have sufficient resistance to damage, transmit greater power, and also have longer service lives and smaller gear structure.
Gears of spur gear slewing drive in meshing transmission, in order for each pair of gears in the meshing area of the gears to be properly meshed, the normal distance between the tooth profiles on the same side of the two adjacent teeth of the two gears should be equal. In theoretical design, it’s necessary to ensure that the center distance and top clearance are zero, but in actual processing, the backlash cannot be zero.
In the process of gear transmission, the non-contact surfaces must have reasonable clearance. It’s for the convenience of lubrication, manufacturing and assembly errors, and the extrusion phenomenon caused by deformation and expansion caused by heat and force. Within a reasonable range, for different modules and pressure angles, adjust the corresponding smaller backlash to achieve better use requirements. The function of the tooth top backlash is to store grease for lubrication.
There are two main factors that affect tooth meshing:
- Errors in tooth machining: mainly from machine tools, cutters, fixture deviation and gear roughing manufacturing and positioning deviation.
- Cumulative error during assembly: It mainly comes from the deviation caused by the manufacture and assembly of parts such as housings and bearings.
